Do you want to access up to $1,095 of free basic dental care for your child?

Eligible children aged 0–17 can access up to $1,095 for basic dental services over two years through the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).

This is all bulk billed, meaning you are not required to pay if you are eligible. That means free dental treatment for your child!

What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

The Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides bulk-billed basic dental services to children between 0 and 17.
Dental services are capped at $1,095 over 2 consecutive calendar years.
The two-year cap period begins when a kid or teen receives qualifying dental services.

Step-by-Step Guide for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule

A child is eligible if they are:

To be qualified for the CDBS, your child must:

between the ages of 0 and 17 years at any point in the calendar year
be qualified for Medicare on the day of service
get, or be part of a family getting certain Australian Government payments

Medicare assesses eligibility at the beginning of each calendar year and is valid for the entire year.

Children who acquire eligibility later in the year will have their eligibility retroactively started on January 1st.

Confirming Eligibility and Balance

Before providing services, we must check your child’s eligibility and balance. Here’s how you can do it:

Confirm Your Child is Eligible:
- Give us a call when your Medicare card is ready.
- Visit our clinic in person with your Medicare Card.
- You can check it yourself using your Medicare online account through myGov. You can also call the Medicare general enquiries line.
Confirm Your Balance:
- The balance can be confirmed via the same methods listed above.

Booking an Appointment

Once we confirm your child is eligible, you can make an appointment with one of our friendly dentists by calling or emailing us.

During the Dental Appointment

At the dental appointment, our dentists will:

Provide a dental examination.
Discuss the child’s treatment, costs, and if there are any procedures that we can or cannot perform under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Ask you to sign a Medicare consent form agreeing to the services and the cost that Medicare will charge.

After the Treatment

Once the treatment is completed, we will:

Claim the bulk bill charges online.
Provide a receipt showing your child’s remaining Child Dental Benefits Schedule balance.

Note: Sometimes, extra appointments may be required for your child.
